Kindergarten Sensory Tables

Hello my name is Ashley from Girl Scout troop 50812 in Stamford Connecticut. I am working on completing my Silver Award. I am building sensory tables for four kindergarten classrooms at Northeast Elementary School. I am also preparing a year’s worth of materials for the teachers to use in the sensory tables from year to year. I held a tag sale to raise money for the materials to build the sensory tables. I have set up an Amazon wish list of items needed for inside the sensory tables. Please consider supporting my project and purchasing an item on the list that will get mailed directly to me. Thank you for your support!

Emmet’s Book Drive

The Northeast PTO is excited to announce our partnership this year with Emmet’s Book Drive. Emmet Manheim was a student at Stark Elementary School who loved reading. After he passed away just a month shy of his 11th birthday, his parents created Emmet’s Book Drive with the goal of filling the classrooms at each of the Stamford Public elementary schools with engaging, high-interest, brand-new books.

In the past two years, Emmet’s Book Drive has collected over 11,000 books for the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classrooms, including ours here at Northeast! (Perhaps you noticed your child bringing home one of “Emmet’s” books?)

By giving to Emmet’s Book Collection e-Wallet, you can donate money that will be spent at the Northeast Book Fair on books for Emmet’s Book Drive. We think of it as a 3-way win: Northeast will raise more money, Emmet’s Book Drive will collect more titles, and you will have helped to enrich classrooms across Stamford. You can read more about Emmet and Emmet’s Book Drive here www.emmetsbookdrive.com

Gently Used Book Donation

A new school year means new books to read. If you have gently used books that your children have outgrown, please donate them to Northeast. Your contributions will help to fill our Book Buddies table at the book fair. Collection boxes will be outside the school under the awning starting this week. Please only donate books with reading levels for kids in kindergarten through 5th grade. Your donations will help us make sure every student receives a new book during our book fair.

First Day of School Photos for Yearbook

We hope everyone had a great first day back to school! Don’t forget the Northeast Yearbook Committee is collecting first day of school photos, and we want to include ALL our students and staff. Please email a favorite first day of school picture of your Northeast student to the Yearbook Committee ([email protected]). High-resolution images work best, so please send as a large or full-size image attachments. Small images are not compatible with a printed yearbook. Thank you for sharing your photos!
