Dads and Donuts!

Northeast PTO welcomes all dads (uncles/grandfathers/VIP guy in your child’s life) to a special breakfast on Friday, January 27 at 7:30 am. This event is for all students (boys AND girls) and their important father figure. Enjoy coffee and donuts with your child and then take a few minutes for a tour of your child’s classroom. Teachers would love to meet you and your child will be so proud to show both you and the school off. Nut-free and gluten-free donuts will also be offered!

The PTO knows mornings are hectic, but we hope families can mark their calendars now to set aside the time to bring dads into the school. In addition to sending your own VIP into school, we also need help from a few volunteers. Please volunteer to help with set-up, serving, clean-up, or the entire event. Contact Maya Noren or Jacque Sanchez with any questions.

Mix-It-Up Lunch: Favorite Sports Team Tuesday is 1/23

It’s 2018 and there’s never been a better time to mix it up than now! Northeast is participating in Teaching Tolerance’s national campaign— “Mix-It-Up At Lunch” to fight prejudice and promote kindness & open-mindedness. Just as in 2017, students will be given random lunch table assignments once per month to encourage friendship and conversation with students they might not normally interact with.

This month’s Mix-It-Up Lunch is on Tuesday, Jan. 23rd and it’s Favorite Sports Team Tuesday. Encourage your kid to wear clothes featuring their favorite sports team on the 23rd. And, please consider volunteering to help for all or part of the lunch period. Kids sometimes need your help to start a conversation with someone new. Contact Mrs. Mould with any questions. Thank you!

Junior Achievement Volunteers Needed

Junior Achievement ‘empowers youth to own their economic success.’

Volunteers are needed to lead Junior Achievement lessons in the children’s classrooms for this Spring. It’s a fun way to become involved in your child’s class and the kids love having visitors. Detailed lesson plans are provided, along with training for new volunteers.

Time Commitment: You select the time and date(s) that work best for you and the teacher. There are 5 lessons in total and each lesson is about 45 minutes. If you cannot lead all 5 lessons, we can assign more than 1 volunteer to the classroom.

We particularly need volunteers for the following classrooms:

  • Ball
  • Schuman
  • Winthrop
  • Van Name
  • Baldovin
  • Liner

To help out, please email [email protected] and indicate your preferred classroom.
**Feel free to reach out even if you did not see a specific teacher listed above.
