Mark your calendars for the Northeast Book Fair starting Tuesday, September 26th through Friday, September 29th. Every student will have an opportunity to visit the fair with their classroom teacher. Click here to view the class schedule. Parents may also shop our Book Fair during Northeast Open House night on Thursday 9/28. Visit our Scholastic school page for more information and to set up an e-Wallet for your child. E-Wallet is an easy way to let your student shop the book fair without sending money to school!

If you would like to volunteer, please sign-up using this link. Thank you for your support, and we’ll see you at the book fair!

A new school year means new books to read. If you have gently used books that your children have outgrown, please donate them to Northeast! Your contributions will help to fill our Book Buddies table at the book fair. Collection boxes will be outside the school under the awning starting this week. Please only donate books with reading levels for kids in kindergarten through 5th grade. Your donations will help us make sure every student receives a new book during our book fair.

The Northeast PTO is excited to announce our partnership this year with Emmet’s Book Drive! Emmet Manheim was a student at Stark Elementary School who loved reading. After he passed away just a month shy of his 11th birthday, his parents created Emmet’s Book Drive with the goal of filling the classrooms at each of the Stamford Public elementary schools with engaging, high-interest, brand-new books. In the past two years, Emmet’s Book Drive has collected over 11,000 books for the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classrooms, including ours here at Northeast! (Perhaps you noticed your child bringing home one of “Emmet’s” books?)

By giving to Emmet’s Book Collection e-Wallet, you can donate money that will be spent at the Northeast Book Fair on books for Emmet’s Book Drive. We think of it as a 3-way win: Northeast will raise more money, Emmet’s Book Drive will collect more titles, and you will have helped to enrich classrooms across Stamford. You can read more about Emmet and Emmet’s Book Drive here www.emmetsbookdrive.com.

Don’t forget to setup an eWallet for your student so they can shop “cashless” and you have the ability to track their purchases! Families can put funds into a student’s electronic wallet so that they can shop for books at the fair without having to bring money to school. Instructions for setting up your child’s eWallet can be found on our Book Fair home page.

The Book Fair can only happen with the support of volunteers! Please consider signing up for a time to help during the week. Thank you, and see you at the Book Fair!

Here is the schedule of when our classes will be visiting the Fall Book Fair. It will also be open to parents during the Northeast Open House night on Thursday 9/28.
