Northeast Elementary School PTO

Happy 1 year anniversary to our Northeast School Garden! Hard to believe it’s only been one year. Our GreenWorks team has built 25 raised beds, won two grants, removed 3 trees, and created an outdoor classroom. Our fall crops include broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, squash, tomatoes, lettuce, beans, beets, and pumpkin. Our wonderful teachers need continued support in the garden to teach composting, companion planting, and composting. We are looking for grant writers as well! The Northeast Chess Club under the instruction of Merritt Nesin will begin its Fall season on Monday, September 16th in the Media Center. Open to 2nd thru 5th graders, the Club will meet on Mondays from 2:45 to 4:15 for 10 weeks with the last class scheduled for December 9th. The cost is $50 and all levels of players are welcome. The Northeast Yearbook Committee enjoyed seeing so many 1st day of school photos shared on social media, and they would like to include many of those in the 2019-2020 yearbook. New Northeast Spiritwear for the new school year! Check out the flyer that went home in your child’s folder or order online now! Load of new styles and colors available. Order by September 13th to get by October 4th. After 9/13, orders will be filled once per month. Contact Michal Rubin with any questions. Yay Northeast!!!

Northeast is partnering with Flex Academies again this fall to offer some of your favorite classes as well as some exciting new after-school paid enrichment programs. Check out the Fall Course Catalog!

Flex is a program that brings paid after-school enrichment offerings to schools across Fairfield County. Flex fully runs the programs and handles enrollments and online payments. Classes begin September 16th and run on either a Monday or Wednesday from 3-4pm at Northeast. Classes end on November 6th. Full scholarships available based on eligibility.  

Flex is also looking for an Onsite Coordinator for our school to oversee the programs on Monday and Wednesday afternoons.  This is a paid position.  If you have any interest in the position or have any questions about Flex, please contact Gena Russo. 

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! We’re so excited to welcome you back! See you all bright and early on Thursday, August 29th. School starts at 8:10am. CAN’T WAIT!!!

Please join the PTO in creating colorful designs and/or special messages to welcome Northeast students and staff back to school. Due to weather, we’ve moved this colorful event to the long weekend. We would LOVE Northeast families to come to school at any point over the long weekend  to chalk the school’s front sidewalks. Buckets of chalk will be placed outside of the front of school.
