Mix-It-Up Lunches are BACK! 11/21 is “Good Vibe Tuesday”

Mix-It-Up Lunches are back and more fun than ever! Part of a national campaign launched by Teaching Tolerance, Mix-It-Up asks students to move out of their comfort zones and connect with someone new over lunch. Once a month from November-May, students will be given random table assignments as they enter the cafeteria and will enjoy lunch with different students than they normally eat with. Teachers and parent volunteers will sit with the students to encourage conversations. According to Teaching Tolerance, “studies have shown that interactions across group lines can help reduce prejudice” and “when students interact with those who are different from them, biases and misperceptions can fall away.”

Our first Mix-It-Up Lunch is on Tuesday, November 21stGood Vibe Tuesday. On this day, students are encouraged to wear clothes that express a positive message. “Sparkle & Shine,” “Be Kind,” or “Happiness Counts!” Also, please bring one non-perishable food item to lunch to contribute to our school’s holiday food drive.

Please volunteer to help kids make new friends at November’s Mix-It-Up Lunch (or December’s on 12/19). Contact Mrs. Mould or Maya Noren with any questions.
