Calling All Chess Masters! Chess Club Registration Open NOW

UPDATE: Unfortunately, as of September 11th, the Fall Chess Club is all booked up! This is such a popular NEPTO-sponsored club. If your child missed out on pre-registration, stay tuned because there will be a Spring Chess Club offered in 2018. Game on!

NEPTO is pleased to sponsor the 2017 Fall Chess Club, taught by Merritt Nesin! Chess Club is open to students in grades 2-5 and meets every Monday at 2:45pm- 4:15pm in the school’s Media Center. The Club begins on 9/25 and runs for 10 weeks, ending on 12/4 with no meeting on Columbus Day. Unfortunately, there is no after-school bus transportation available.

Chess Club is a very popular club and space is limited to 20-24 students. The cost is $50 for the Fall Session and all levels of players are welcome. There will be lessons on the rules of chess for beginners, and lessons on strategies for those who are more advanced. Sportsmanship and thinking will be stressed. As in the past, we are asking for parents/caregivers to volunteer to be a Chess Club Monitor for at least one meeting, to assist with bathroom breaks, media center clean up, or any other student needs.

To pre-register, email Merritt Nesin, noting your child’s name, teacher, grade, and your telephone number. Mr. Nesin will contact you to let you know if you are among the first 20-24 students to enroll. After your enrollment has been confirmed, you will receive an email from the PTO Chess Club Chair with additional details, including an online registration form. You will be required to complete the registration form either online or send it to school with payment prior to the start of Chess Club. Payment will be due by September 25th.

Any questions? Contact Mr. Nesin at 203-329-9122 or email PTO Chess Club Chairperson Nina Doughney.
