Calling all chess enthusiasts! Whether you are an absolute beginner or a chess master, you can register for the spring session of the Northeast Chess Club.
Chess Club is open to students in grades 2 through 5. All levels of players are welcome. There will be lessons on the rules of chess for beginners, and lessons on strategies for those who are more advanced. Sportsmanship and thinking will be stressed.
The club begins Monday, January 25th and continues for 10 weeks on Mondays (see dates, below), from 2:45 pm to 4:15 pm, and ends on Monday, April 25th. Students are dismissed from their classrooms at 2:45 pm to the Media Center and must be picked up by a parent or guardian at 4:15 pm from the Media Center. There is no after-school bus transportation. The cost is $50 and includes a Chess Club T-shirt and Club Photo. The Club will meet on the following Mondays: Jan. 25. Feb. 1, 8, 22, 29. March 7, 14, 21, 28. April 18. If school is closed on any of these Mondays due to inclement weather, we will extend the Club meeting dates into May.)

- Pre-register by email to Margaret Oshiki at [email protected]. Include (1) your child’s name, (2) your child’s teacher, (3) name of parent/guardian.
- You will be contacted by email to confirm if your child was among the first 20 students to enroll.
- After your enrollment has been confirmed, you will receive an email with additional information including a registration form to complete and send to school along with payment, due January 25th.
