A new school year brings with it a plethora of new information. The official school website and this PTO website are great resources. Bookmark them now! If you’re a Facebook user, “like” NEPTO on Facebook and check the “See First” box, so NEPTO’s posts will always be at the top of your newsfeed. Prefer Twitter? NEPTO tweets, too! Follow @PTONortheast. In addition, the PTO distributes a digital newsletter every Monday morning that is chock-full of important events and school information for the current week and beyond. Please sign up to be added to the mailing list.

Don’t forget to review all the school paperwork in the packet sent home earlier this month. Please be sure to read all the information carefully and complete all the relevant forms. Take particular note of the Student Drop Off Procedure, Car Rider Dismissal Procedure, Absence Policy and the new Birthday Party Procedure and Policy. Thank you!

Plan Ahead for Some Fun After-School Classes: Flex Academies is Back!

Northeast is partnering with Flex Academies again  this fall to offer exciting new after-school paid enrichment programs. Has your child wanted to try a new sport or skill? Perhaps learn a foreign language? Want to advance your Minecraft skills? Check out the Fall Course Catalog!

Classes Start September 17th and run ONE day a week on either Monday or Wednesdays from 3-4pm. Classes end on November 7th. Some of the awesome fall offerings include Spanish Level II, Science, and Engineering (think building your own model airplane and learning the mechanics of flying it!), Coding with Robotics, and Art Enrichment! Shhhh… Super Secret Welcome Back to School Chalking- 8/29, 3-8pm

Make your child’s first day of school extra special by creating a special note or picture in chalk on the front sidewalk at Northeast on the day before school starts. We would love to have as many Northeast families as possible create pictures, designs, and messages of well wishes for our students and staff. Bring your own chalk or use our chalk, but don’t tell your student! Leave a wonderful surprise for them on Wednesday, August 29th anytime between 3 and 8pm. Don’t miss this fun way to wish our Northeast Stars a fantastic start to the school year!

8/29: Kindergarten & New Student Orientation, 8-10am

Kindergarten & New Student Orientation is Wednesday, August 29th at 8am! Orientation is mandatory for all incoming kindergartners and optional for new students in grades 1-5. Students (and parents!) will have the opportunity to meet their teachers, see their classrooms, and get a little more acquainted with Northeast before the big day! 8/30: Welcome Back to School!

Tie your shoes, sharpen that pencil, and smile for the camera– Thursday, August 30th is the official first day of the 2018-19 school year. Please check The Stamford Advocate for bus schedules and review the drop-off/parking procedures that were sent home earlier this month. This is going to be a great year, so don’t be late!

Please note that photographers from The Stamford Advocate will be taking pictures of students on the first day of school for newspaper pieces. If you prefer not to have any pictures of your child taken, please let the photographers know.

8/30: Northeast Volunteer Fair, 8:15am

Every school year is packed with school events, field trips, and enrichment programs. From the School Yearbook to the Daughter Dance to the Art Show and Junior Achievement Classes… none of this could happen without the support and time of Northeast parents like you. This year is no different. Please take a few minutes to stop by the Northeast Volunteer Fair on Thursday (8/30) at 8:15am in the Main Lobby of the school to see where you can lend a hand. There are opportunities for all commitment levels.

Northeast and the PTO need your help to create & implement activities that enrich our school community and support our academic goals. A little time goes a long way – any time you can spare really makes a difference! THANK YOU! Can’t make the Fair? You can express your volunteer interests online, too!

Eat Good Food & Support Northeast 5th Graders’ Trip to Nature’s Classroom

Northeast 5th Graders are selling tickets to the Stamford Food Festival! Tickets are just $25 and get you into BOTH days (8/25 & 8/26). Gobble up some delicious food, enjoy musical acts by Tone Loc & Mason Ramsey, AND support Northeast’s 5th grade trip to Nature’s Classroom. Ticket supplies are limited and first come, first serve. 100% of the ticket price will go towards funding the Nature’s Classroom trip. Please contact Rachel Friedman to purchase tickets. THANK YOU!
