4th Grade Parents- Do Not Miss the 4/25 Nature’s Classroom Meeting!

All 4th grade parents should save the evening of 4/25 for an important informational meeting about Nature’s Classroom. Next year, your 5th graders will be participating in the amazing Nature’s Classroom program. Nature’s Classroom is a residential environmental education program that helps build community and confidence in kids through a 3-night overnight camping trip. Our 5th graders will be going to the Silver Bay, NY camp in late November 2018. They will take day hikes up Uncas Cliff–  the inspiration for James Fenimore Cooper’s dramatic cliff scene in “The Last of the Mohicans.” They’ll participate in STEM-based classes both indoors and outdoors. And, for many kids, it will be their first solo trip away from home and maybe their introduction to the great outdoors.

Please join the 5th grade teachers Wednesday, 4/25 at 6:30pm at Northeast to see pictures from past trips and to find out more about Nature’s Classroom. The trip is NOT fully paid for by the SPS budget and there is quite a bit of fundraising that parents need to do to help pay for the Nature’s Classroom experience. The meeting will discuss costs and how parents can help make this trip happen for ALL students.
