The Stamford Odyssey of the Mind program is proud to announce that the program has selected the Stamford Public Education Foundation (SPEF) as its new fiscal sponsor. SPEF’s education-focused mission, as well as existing relationships with Stamford Public Schools (SPS) staff, will assist in reinforcing the value of the Odyssey prog
ram where it is already in place, while helping to introduce creative problem-solving into additional school buildings. Northeast will be forming a team with students in grades 3, 4 and 5. See flyer for details.

Odyssey of the Mind teaches students skills that they need to be successful today and in the future. Odyssey of the Mind provides an extra-curricular activity for students, driven by discovery and exploratory learning.
-Think and work creatively and solve problems using sound judgement.
-Reason and utilize systems thinking.
-Communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with others.

Participation is open to students in grades 3 – 12. Teams of 5-7 students meet weekly from October – March, preparing for the State Competition on Saturday, March 18th. New teams will be formed based on availability of coaches. Teams can be coached by teachers and/or parents. No previous experience is necessary. Training, materials and mentoring is provided.
